Following some significant changes to the course in 2022, with some turns widened and the removal of the chicane to increase straight line speed, we may see the fastest ever Australian Grand Prix.

Alongside this, an additional Drag Reduction System (DRS) zone will be added between turns 6-11, which should result in a decrease in lap times from last year.

Coming into Australia, we could see a real fairytale stroyline come true, with hometown boy Oscar Piastri currently priced at 92.480*. Born in Melbourne, the McLaren driver grew up just 15 minutes away from the track. However, no Aussie driver has managed to win the home race, so Piastri will have to go very well in this one to change this.

Interestingly, Max Verstappen has an awful record in Australia. He did not finish in 2015 and barely cracked the top 10 in 2016. He was not able to take a place on the podium until a third-placed finish in 2019, while he did not finish in 2022.

This makes the battle for the top spot very interesting. So far, first and second has been a battle between the two Red Bull drivers, with Verstappen and Sergio Perez finishing at the top once apiece.

It seems likely Verstappen will dominate when looking at the form of the drivers this season though, with the Dutchman far faster than everyone and only hampered by issues with his vehicle in Saudi Arabia.

Fernando Alonso has looked good with Aston Martin, but it is worth remembering all of the cars have been battling for third, rather than really pushing the two Red Bull cars.

Once again on the fringes, Mercedes struggled in Saudi Arabia, but the right conditions and setup could see both George Russell and Sir Lewis Hamilton battle for the podium too.

Despite this one likely being an entertaining race, Verstappen is expected to outpace his teammate et al, with the Dutch driver clearly on top once again. Things will need to go horribly wrong for Red Bull in order for anyone else to get close to Verstappen.

Verstappen is available at 1.390* to win the race, while Fernando Alonso is a decent punt at 10.740* after his strong performances.
