In the 2022 league, SSG's have topped the standings since the first weekend of the season, but second place LG are putting the pressure on the league leaders. The bats of their recent main hitters are quiet but SSG could recapture some form against Hanwha, who are in the bottom position this weekend.

The key player for SSG is Choo Shin Soo, who returned from injury on September 6 following a finger issue. He batted 0.265, 14 home runs, 53 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases in 102 games this season and has an on-base percentage of 0.392, which is the team's number one. After his return, he will be the lead-off hitter.

Hanwha's key player is Kim Tae Yeon, who has a batting average of 0.242 this season, but is showing an upward trend with a batting average of 0.375, six hits and one home run in the last five games.

LG Twins @ Samsung Lions

LG have won seven consecutive games and have a high win rate throughout the season. They are in good position to be challenging for first place in the regular league for the first time in 22 years. Pitchers Casey Patrick Kelly and Adam Plutko are tied for the most wins with 14 wins each.

They are four games behind SSG who are in first place, and may be able to close the gap as they face a Samsung team against which they have an 11-3 record this season.

LG's key player is Moon Bo kyung, with a batting average of 0.533, 8 hits and 1 home run in the last 5 games, ranking tenth (0.311) in batting average and 13th (0.836) in the OPS ranking.

Samsung's key player is Jose Pirela, who ranks first in the overall rankings for batting average with a figure for the season of 0.347. Pirela has also racked up a batting average of 0.421 and eight hits in the last five games.

KT Wiz @ Kiwoom Heroes

KT and Kiwoom are fighting it out for third place in order to secure a home playoff advantage. Last week, KT ranked third, but Kiwoom leapfrogged their opponents following five consecutive wins. This weekend’s clash between the pair will go a long way in deciding the regular season's standing.

KT's key player is Hwang Jae-gyun, who has hit 0.271 with nine home runs and 58 RBIs for the season. Since August 12, he has ranked first in the team with a batting average of 0.333 in a total of 20 games, with four home runs and 14 RBIs.

Kiwoom's key player is starting pitcher Han Hyun-hee who has led his side to three victories over his last six outings. Han is now the main man at Kiwoom following the departure of Jeung Chan-heon and Choi Won-tae from the squad.
