Atletico Madrid vs. Real Madrid predictions

The first Madrid derby of the season takes place at the Metropolitano as Atletico Madrid play host to top-of-the-table Real Madrid, who will seek to continue their 100% record so far this season. Even though defensively Real have not been at their best this season, they are still looking very strong at the top of the table.

Coming from behind against Mallorca on Sunday, Los Blancos scored four goals to take their tally for this season to 15. Going forward, they still look threatening even without talisman Karim Benzema.

However, they will still hope to have the Frenchman back for the game on Sunday against Atletico, who have 10 points so far this season. Diego Simeone’s men have won three of their five matches so far and have a good recent record against Real at home.

In the last six meetings, they have only been beaten once and Real have historically found it tough to score goals, netting more than one on just two occasions since 2014.

Barcelona vs. Elche predictions

Barcelona won their fourth La Liga game in a row at the weekend with an easy 4-0 thumping of rock-bottom Cadiz on Saturday. Robert Lewandowski added another to his already impressive tally of goals while Frenkie De Jong, Ansu Fati, and Ousmane Dembele also got on the scoresheet.

A heavy win against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League means the goals are currently flying in for the Catalan side, who have also been very sturdy at the back. Xavi’s men have let in just one league goal all season.

Therefore, there will be big expectations for them to beat an Elche side still looking for their first win of the season after gaining only a point from five matches, scoring twice.

The last time Elche stopped Barcelona from beating them was in May 2014 and they have since suffered eight consecutive defeats.

Villarreal vs. Sevilla predictions

Sevilla have endured a very poor start to the season, though they did end their winless start with a hard-fought 3-2 win away at Espanyol. Julen Lopetegui’s side, who also began their Champions League campaign with a defeat to Premier League champions Manchester City, had previously picked up only one point from four matches.

Their next task comes in the form of Villarreal who have started the season very strongly with three wins and a draw from five matches. Unai Emery’s side, like Barcelona, have only let in one goal so far.

However, that did come in their previous match which was a 1-0 loss at Real Betis, so the Yellow Submarine will be keen to bounce back against a side who are still expected to challenge for a European position this season.

Villarreal tend to be strong at home against Sevilla – they are unbeaten in their last four meetings, and have lost just one of their past seven.
