La Liga Predictions For Matchday 27

Elche are looking for one of the upsets of the season as they take on the league leaders this weekend. The home side currently prop up the table after 26 matches with just two wins coming in this time. A win over Barca would go down in their history books, but it is unlikely even this will save them. With a 14-point gap between themselves and Espanyol in 17th, it looks like the writing is on the wall for the side. 

Barcelona are marching towards yet another La Liga title after building a three-match winning run. Their third and latest win saw them defeat Real Madrid 2-1 in a performance of some class. With Real knowing they had to win, Barca soaked up so much pressure and ultimately took all three points in the game, seeing their lead at the top stretch to what is likely an insurmountable 12 points. Barca know that Elche will arrive looking to be compact and tough to break down, but the visiting side know they have more than enough to win this one comfortably. 

Real Madrid have to win this one. Their 2-1 loss to Barcelona last time out saw Real fall 12 points behind Barca at the top, and they will likely have conceded that the title is probably beyond them. With a strong run of form at home, Real will hope to pick up their 18th win of the season, but they are likely now merely playing for second-place in league. 

Valladolid have struggled all season, while their eight points in 13 matches on the road shows they are not winning often enough away from home. Just 20 goals scored in 26 matches means they are not scoring often enough, while the 38 they have conceded means they are not staying compact enough at the back. Real should smell blood in this one. 

Valencia's torrid 2022/23 season rumbles on, with the side still languishing in the relegation zone after 26 matches. A 3-0 hammering at the hands of Atletico Madrid in their last game compounded their woes, although they have looked slightly better of late. 

Rayo Vallecano sit in eighth in the league with 36 points, meaning they are currently just five points behind Villarreal in sixth and the final European spot. However, Rayo have struggled in their last cluster of games as they are without a sin in six. This game is huge at both ends of the table. Rayo need a win to keep their European hopes alive, while Valencia need to start to build momentum if they are to escape the humiliation of relegation.
