La Liga Predictions For Matchday 28

Barcelona are continuing their push towards their first title since 2019, and they look near-unstoppable right now. Their latest win over Elche saw them hammer their opponents 4-0 as they secured yet another clean sheet. They have now scored 53 goals this season but, more impressive if their defensive record after conceding just nine times in 27 games. It is proving incredibly difficult to score against Barca this year, let alone beat them. With two defeats and two draws in 27 matches and a 12 point lead over Real Madrid with 11 games to come, the league is surely all but over barring a miracle for Real. 

Girona arrive for this one sitting in 11th in the table. The 34 points they have picked up means they are seven clear of Espanyol in 18th, with safety edging closer. However, the away side cannot be complacent, as a few bad results could see them quickly slip down the table. A win here is unlikely, meaning this will be more about ensuring their goal difference is not severely harmed against the best team in Spain.

Real Madrid now look in a battle for the runners-up berth at best, with their form over the last few months all but handing Barcelona the title. With two wins in their last five matches, Real are now 12 points behind Barca with only 11 games of the season still to come. With arch-rivals Atletico Madrid now just five points behind them, Real need to ensure they keep winning, or they could slip down to third. 

Villarreal are enjoying their season so far, with the side picking up 44 points from 27 games. Real Sociedad and the final Champions League spot is just four points above them, meaning a win in this match could see them move to within a point of the biggest competition in club football. Villarreal are asking for a lot of favours for this to happen though, with Real Betis and Sociedad needing to drop points if they are to move to within a point of the top-four. 

Rayo Vallecano are not out of the race for a European place for next season, with seven points standing between themselves and Villarreal in sixth. While there are still 11 games of the season left to come, it is starting to feel like Rayo are running out of time, as they continue to drop points. 

Atletico Madrid arrive for this one on the back of a sparkling run of form that has seen the side win their last four games in a row. Just five points stand between Atleti and their major rivals, and they will want nothing more than to leapfrog their opponents and push them further down the table. With just four goals conceded across an 11 game unbeaten run in the league, Atleti are in scintillating form.
