Premier League Predictions For Matchday 29

What a match we have in store this weekend as last season's top-two come together. Despite fighting down to the final match for the title in the 2021/22 season, the pair have had markedly different times this year. 

Manchester City come into the match looking to cut the gap between themselves and Arsenal at the summit, with City currently boasting a three-match winning run in the league. Meanwhile, Liverpool have a real battle on their hands if they are to finish in the top-four this year. With 42 points from 26 games, the Reds are seven points short of Spurs in fourth. While the London side have played two more games than them, the Reds know they cannot afford to drop more points. 

For very different reasons, neither side can afford to lose in this one. While the Reds are looking to do the double over City this year, home advantage will surely tell. 

Boasting a six-game winning run in the league and an eight point gap at the top, Arsenal are on cloud nine right now. It is worth noting that they have played an extra game in comparison to City this year, but who would have predicted this for the Gunners at the start of the campaign. 

For Leeds, things look rocky. A win in their last game saw them move onto 26 points for the season, two clear of West Ham in 18th. However, if you are looking for the last time Leeds beat Arsenal on the road, you would have to go all the way back to a 4-2 win at Highbury in 2003. Things look bleak for United in this one. 

After stuttering massively in the league, Chelsea are currently enjoying a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions. A stunning win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League kept their hopes of an unlikely European cup alive, while a three-game unbeaten run in the league means they have moved onto 38 points for the season. While Spurs are 11 points above them, the Blues will know that a continuation of their current run could see them dragged back into contention, especially when considering the profligacy of those above them. 

Aston Villa sit level on points with Chelsea after a superb season so far. Their tally of 38 points means they are only two short of the suppose safety that 40 points provides, while they are 14 clear of the relegation zone. They will arrive and look to be tough to beat in this one and they can give Chelsea a scare, such is their impressive growth this season. 

Fifth hosts third in the league in what should be an exceptionally entertaining match. Newcastle have been far better of late, although they have still slipped down to fifth in the league. Despite this, the Magpies are only a point below Spurs in fourth having played two games less. 

Manchester United arrive sitting in third with 50 points, one clear of Tottenham having played two games less. While United are in a more enviable position that Spurs, the old mantra of points in the bank are better than games in hand rings true. United have to turn these two games into points, or they will force themselves into a top-four battle that they do not want to be a part of.
